In The Waiting Room

Hussien — a 30-year-old Palestinian Arab with Israeli citizenship after being evacuated in 1948 — escorts his freshly bereaved 70-year-old mother Rashida to her medical appointment in an Israeli hospital waiting area. While Hussien works on an assignment on his laptop, Rashida — who hasn’t left her house in three months — tries to socialize with others in her limited Hebrew.

MOATASEM TAHA

Taha is a Palestinian filmmaker and an alumnus of the cinema and photography program at Wizo College in Haifa. He then embarked on his journey in the world of photography as a wedding photographer, alongside his older brother before becoming an integral part of the Palestinian filmmaking movement, which focused on empowering Palestinian youths from the 1948 territories, encouraging them to create films that reflected their unique artistic identities.
